CER 851ZO FAIRWAY/HYBRID HEADS

The CER line of fairway woods have been the single most popular fairway woods we have ever sold. Although the styling of the offset design and Dark Burgundy finish were unique, the performance of these fairway woods is what has driven the success.

For 2006, a new version of the CER fairways were designed to take performance to a new level. The true innovation in the new CER 851+ ZO woods come in the progressive deign. The concept for the design came from the popular idea of hybrid iron sets, with designs changing within a set to enhance performance. With that concept in mind, we set out to create a conventional to hybrid progression of fairway woods. The 3 (14°) Wood in the ZO fairway wood line has a crown width of 2.50" (63.5 mm), which is slightly narrower than many fairway wood designs, but very close to a traditional dimension. The 5 (18°) wood crown width progresses down to 2.40"(61 mm). The 7 (21°) progresses down to 2.30" (58.4 mm), the 9 (24°) progresses down to 2.10" (53.3 mm) and the 11 (27°) to 1.90" (48.3 mm).

The face width stays constant through out the lofts at 3.26" (82.8 mm). The face height progresses from 1.38" (35.05 mm) tall on the fairway 3 wood down to 1.32" (33.53 mm) on the hybrid 11 wood. This progression in crown width and face height gives the 3 wood through the 11 wood a progressively more hybrid appearance. The sole was carefully designed to have just the right amount of toe to heel radius and front to back radius on all the lofts to make them very turf forgiving.
We also maintained the special "0 Effective Offset" feature that made the original CER metal woods so unique. This offset places the leading edge of the face even with the leading edge of the hosel, giving it a true 0° offset.

This feature helps the golfer put their hands in a better position and effectively gives the clubface more time to square at impact, reducing the tendency to slice. Also, the offset places the C.G. of the head slightly farther back in the head in relation to the hosel center line, which can help in getting the ball airborne. The head weights are designed for building clubs to fairway wood lengths.

THE 851+ ZO Fairways and Hybrids are investment cast from high 17-4 Stainless Steel and come with the same beautiful finish as the new drivers. These Fairway Hybrids were designed to take a .335" tip diameter wood shaft. The wood tip diameter, because it is smaller, lends itself to being more tip responsive and giving the club builder more flex and length options than the larger tip diameter shafts. So, there you have it, a  Fairway/Hybrid progressive set of metal woods that makes the transition from fairway woods to hybrids seem natural. We truly believe we have taken the CER line of fairway woods to an entirely new leyel of performance.

  • Investment Cast 17-4 Stainless Steel
  • Crown width progresses from 2.50" (3 wood) to 1.90" (11 wood) creating a gradual fairway to hybrid look
  • Low C.G. aids in trajectory
  • Offset hosel locates C.G. further back and aids in squaring the face at impact
  • Designed to be built to fairway wood lengths with .335" tip diameter shaft
